Nehru Institute of Mountaineering
The institute is located in the foothills of the Gharwal Himalayas, Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand. It was established on 14th November 1965 in honour of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. The institute provides several courses like adventure courses, basic mountaineering courses, advanced mountaineering courses, search and rescue courses, methods of instruction courses, etc. Based on snow conditions they started a skiing course in the year 2014. The institute prepares the people to increase their resistance to cold, hunger, and exhaustion to toughen their bodies.
Himalayan Mountaineering Institute
The institute was set up in the year 1954 and is located in the picturesque hills of Darjeeling and offers a magnificent view of Mt. Kanchenjunga. The training takes the students to west Sikkim through Kanchenjunga National Park, another added bonus. It is known for its hard treks and heavy rucksack loads.

Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Mountaineering
It is the largest adventure sports training centre in India and was set up in the year 1961. It offers adventure courses across the state. It is situated in the beautiful town of Manali in Kullu valley. Library, museum, and lecture halls are there in this institute. The institute gives many adventure training centres in Himachal Pradesh.

Jawahar Institute of Mountaineering and Winter Sports
This institute was set up in the year 1983 at Aru, Jammu and Kashmir. The headquartered is located in Pahalgam, its various sub-centres are at Nalthi Bhaderwah, Sanasar-Patnitop-Kud, they and Gulmarg.

National Institute of Mountaineering
The institute was set up in the year 2013. It provides enough area to train in different sports.

Indian Institute of Skiing and Mountaineering
The institute was set up in the year 1969 with the main focus on snow skiing. It provides mountaineering courses which are not as good as other institutes. It also provides courses like water skiing, parasailing, paragliding, adventure courses, etc.
Pandit Nain Singh Surveyor Mountaineering Training Institute
The institute was situated at an altitude of 2200 m in Munsiyari which is located in the Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand. The institute is named after the great surveyor Pandit Nain Singh Rawat who played a major role in the Great Trigonometrical Survey in the mid-nineteenth century. The institute has already started inviting applications for adventure courses and skiing courses.
Sonam Gyatso Mountaineering Institute, Gangtok, Sikkim
The institute was set up in the year 1963 and the headquarters are located in Gangtok, Sikkim. It contains compulsory general medical checkup camps for all the members of the college and other facilities like sports, gym, and computer labs. The institute trains participants from Armed Forces only.
High Altitude Warfare School
The high altitude warfare school is an army service training and research establishment of the Indian Army. In the year 1948, the Indian Army established a ski school in Gulmarg that later became the high altitude warfare school, which specializes in snow craft and winter warfare. Only Armed Forces personnel can participate in the courses at this institute.
